Why is Nivea cream so small?

I always wondered why the Japanese Nivea creams and lotions are so small. Ours in Germany are twice as big!


I put a DVD in the background to show the relative size of the Nivea creams


Does it have anything to do with the Japanese problem of general lack of space? (Their houses and cars are tiny.)
Does it have anything to do with the Japanese girls' preferences of "kawaii" (cute) things? (They like tiny pens, tiny calendars, tiny skirts...)
Now I know: the bodies of the skinny girls here don't have so much surface so they don't need so much cream. Haha, I am so mean... (^_-)
